That is the laptop i am considering. i will need it for:

general internet browsing
downloading video and audio files
general PC tasks
to run an xbox live account through
in-built webcam

THats mainly it, i dont need it for online gaming etc. so dont care about graphics card and stuff but would like to it to run smoothly and boot up quickly.

Please can someone who knows what there talking about rate this against other laptops in the £379 price range and take into account a in-built webcam is key.

It’s ant okay laptop. You can get better ones, but this one is good for the price.

Looks OK for that price to me. Maybe a little thin on RAM for running Vista well, but it will do everything you specify above without trouble.

That will work fine for what you want to do. A little more ram would help it run even a bit more smoothly, either that or turn off all the extra “eye candy” in vista. You can always get more ram if it becomes a problem. If you don’t game or do video editing you have nothing to worry about.

I would rate this laptop at a 5 at best. It comes with windows vista which is a demanding OS and needs at least 2GB of ram to make it boot up in a decent amount of time. Second the processor probably won’t handle video and audio downloading do to the fact that it will be busy running vista.

ok, this laptop is ok if you don’t want to play games or watch HD movies. If you are a casual user, then i suggest you get a medison celecrity laptop which cost abot $150. Go on their website and check out the specs

Its just ok, I would consider it bottom end. Since your only getting 1gb of ram and Windows Vista Basic. As for the positives it does have 250gb instead of something more basic like a 160 and you are getting a dual core processor.

    So something with

    2gb minimum ram
    250gb or larger HD
    Windows Vista Home Premium
and a built in webcam since you want one.

Would be minimum I would go with. Vista with 1gb of ram is SLOWWW.Regardless of processor

It’s a normal standard laptop. Oh and it’s “built-in” not “in-built” you silly.

If you are in the UK then go to Tesco’s. Tesco (Perth) had the same or similar (with webcam) HP for £278 and a couple of others with your specifications (Fujitsu) for a little bit more.
