I do not want windows vista because I have been told it is not compatable with two programs I use every day, so i am looking for a new laptop with windows xp and not having any luck. the only ones I have found are mini notebooks, not what I want at all. I like a bigger screen. anyone know where to get a new one with windows xp on?

A reputable computer shop will be able to take vista off and install XP for you. I bought a laptop for my son last September and they did this for us, took about 4 hours.
try misco or ebuyer the have some reasonably priced ones with vista and xp pro in as a downgrade or dual boot.
PC World, Curry’s or try the smaller independent stores that will put whatever software you require onto whatever laptop you buy.
You can get a new one with vista/xp professional downgrade. This means when you install your computer on the first set up you can install the cd with xp instead of the vista that comes with it. But once xp is in there there is no going back unless you make a copy before you remove vista. You can easily write vista to dvd and then use it in the future if you need to one day.
